What's the best snail slime cream?

Choosing the best snail slime cream for your skin type.

Matching your face cream to your skin type.

Today, there are many snail slime face creams available, so it's essential to choose the right one to get all the benefits. But how do you make the right choice? Look no further — with all our advice, choosing the best snail slime cream will hold no more secrets for you!

At Royer Cosmétique, our 3 snail slime face creams contain 30% pure snail slime from our own farm in Vendée, meaning the mucus used is not diluted to make an extract. Choosing Royer means choosing a cream with a high concentration of slime for a satisfying result.

But each of these face creams should be matched to your skin type. Let us help you make the right choice

First, you need to know your skin type.

For maximum effectiveness of your face cream, it's essential to know your skin type. Different skin types require different care approaches. Oily skin, for example, may be prone to shine and blemishes, requiring lightweight, sebum-regulating products. Dry skin, on the other hand, will need intense hydration and nourishing care.

By fully understanding your skin type and its specific needs, you'll be able to choose the best snail slime cream, ensuring maximum effectiveness for radiant skin!

The risk of choosing an unsuitable cream is that it can worsen certain skin issues and cause unwanted reactions. For example, using a cream that's too rich on oily skin can clog pores and cause breakouts and other blemishes. Similarly, a lightweight cream used on dry skin won't provide the hydration needed and will leave the skin dull and dehydrated.

Sensitive skin is particularly vulnerable to reactions and irritation caused by harsh products containing an irritating ingredient. A poorly suited cream can cause redness and itching.

Characteristics of normal, combination or sensitive skin

Diagram of sensitive skin face

Normal skin:

  • A balanced texture: skin is smooth, even and supple
  • Barely visible pores: pores are neither enlarged nor clogged. Skin appears fine.
  • Skin doesn't shine
  • Skin is neither too dry nor too oily
  • Very few blemishes present

While naturally normal skin is somewhat the "holy grail" everyone seeks, it still needs proper care.

Combination skin:

  • The T-zone of the face is oily (forehead, nose and chin)
  • Pores are slightly enlarged in this area
  • Cheeks are dry or normal
  • Prone to some blemishes

Combination skin is an unpredictable skin type combining the issues of two other skin types: oily skin and dry skin.

Sensitive skin:

  • Irritates easily
  • Very reactive
  • Skin shows some redness
  • A feeling of itching or tightness

The face cream for sensitive skin should be gentle and hydrating.

Characteristics of oily or blemish-prone skin

Example of oily skin
Example of blemish-prone skin

Oily skin:

  • Presence of breakouts and blackheads
  • Pores clogged and enlarged by excess sebum, dead skin and impurities.
  • Can be sensitive and reactive
  • Uneven texture due to breakouts and post-breakout marks.
  • Often linked to oily skin

Skin is considered oily when it produces too much sebum. It's recommended to use gentle products that won't increase sebum production. Using a micellar water to gently cleanse the skin before applying cream is recommended.

Blemish-prone skin:

  • Complexion is shiny
  • Skin shows blemishes such as blackheads or breakouts
  • Pores are enlarged and skin texture is fairly uneven

For blemish-prone skin, use gentle products to cleanse your skin. Hydrate with a lightweight cream and avoid touching or picking at breakouts to prevent inflammation

Characteristics of dry or mature skin

Example of dry skin
Example of mature skin

Dry skin:

  • Skin is dry and feels tight due to lack of hydration
  • Redness appears on contact with cold or pollution
  • Dry skin tends to feel rough to the touch and may show flaking or scaling (peeling) areas, particularly on the cheeks, forehead and temples
  • Increased sensitivity. Dry skin is often more sensitive to irritating products and temperature changes. It can react with redness, itching and irritation.
  • Prone to chapping and cracking, particularly on the hands, elbows and knees.

Unlike oily skin, dry skin naturally lacks sebum. Dry skin is often a source of discomfort. It's a skin type that needs a lot of hydration to relieve discomfort and restore radiance.

Mature skin:

  • Skin tends to sag due to a loss of elasticity and firmness, leading to the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, particularly around the eyes, mouth and forehead.
  • Loss of density and thickness. Skin tends to become thinner and lose density.
  • Hyperpigmentation and dark spots. With age, mature skin is more prone to developing pigment spots, age spots and hyperpigmentation caused by prolonged sun exposure and other environmental factors
  • Loss of firmness and elasticity

Mature skin isn't strictly speaking a skin type — it corresponds more to a skin condition at a certain age. This natural state needs to regain good hydration with a day and night cream.

The snail slime face cream we recommend for this skin type is the rich face cream:

Don't see your skin type here?

This isn't an exhaustive list of all existing skin types. You may feel like you have 2 skin types.

For example, you might have combination skin prone to sensitivity. In that case, you could use a light cream in the morning for a mattifying effect, and pamper your skin in the evening with a richer, more comforting cream.

Examine the ingredients in your snail slime cream

First and foremost, snail slime! Look for a cream containing a high concentration of pure, undiluted snail slime. Some brands list a very high percentage, but it's often snail slime extract rather than pure slime, as we use at Royer Cosmétique. As a reminder, an extract is snail slime mixed with a solvent or water (meaning you never know the actual percentage of pure slime in the cream). Pure slime guarantees a sufficient quantity of active ingredients for visible results.

Check the position of snail slime in the INCI list. Mandatory on all cosmetic products, the INCI list details, in order of importance (for elements above 1%), all the ingredients present in the product. The higher an ingredient appears on the list, the more of it the product contains. Conversely, the lower an ingredient appears on the list, the less of it the finished product contains.

Choose organic snail slime from ethical farming. At Royer Cosmétique, we're the only ones to have developed a non-invasive, gentle way of harvesting slime from the snail. Stimulation lasts no more than 30 seconds and is painless for the animal. It undergoes no stress whatsoever, which ensures a very high-quality slime. Opt for an organic snail slime face cream. This will help you avoid controversial ingredients. Organic certifications and labels guarantee you a product that's good for your skin.
