Benefits of snail slime: How it acts on the skin

The benefits of snail slime for taking care of your skin

They are numerous and incredible for all skin types.

Used since Antiquity in medicine or as a beauty secret for the skin, snail slime, also known as snail mucus, helps prevent many skin issues.

Snail slime is known for effectively and naturally soothing and reducing minor, temporary skin concerns such as:
- Marks on the face caused by blemishes,

- Marks linked to pregnancy,

- Redness, irritation and inflammation of the skin,

- Wrinkles and dark spots,

- Blackheads,

- Marks from superficial burns- Dark circles,

- etc.

The 6 active ingredients found in snail slime and their action on your skin concerns

Snail slime, used pure as a facial serum or combined with other organic ingredients like shea butter or coconut oil, helps nourish and protect your skin.

The main strength of snail slime is that it naturally contains a combination of ingredients suited to your skin. This precious active ingredient, provided it is present in sufficient quantity, allows you to:

- Repair the skin, particularly thanks to the presence of allantoin and collagen, which support the regeneration process. Snail slime cream is thus both a powerful anti-aging, anti-wrinkle and anti-mark treatment.

- Gain suppleness, through the action of elastin, which brings both a feeling of comfort and a youthful boost!

- Add radiance, with the help of glycolic acid, which gently removes dead skin cells, refining skin texture while brightening the complexion; along with vitamins that complete this action.

- Keep skin in great shape, by stimulating collagen production, one of the skin's natural active ingredients, whose production decreases with age, leading in particular to the appearance of wrinkles.

- Hydrate, through the combined action of all these natural ingredients.

Active ingredients contained in snail slime

The benefits of snail slime on your skin will essentially depend on the quality and quantity of slime contained in your cream.

What are the benefits of snail slime?

Benefit of snail slime No. 1

Snail slime contains allantoin, known for its repairing and regenerating properties.

One of the star active ingredients in snail slime is Allantoin. This organic compound has been renowned since Antiquity for its repairing, regenerating and soothing properties. It is thanks to this compound that, in nature, a snail's shell repairs itself when it accidentally cracks.

Now imagine the effect of Allantoin on your skin, especially if you suffer from marks caused by facial blemishes, breakouts or skin irritation. By applying our organic snail slime creams daily, you will see beneficial effects over the long term.

Allantoin regenerates and repairs skin tissue, helping to fade those blemish marks on your face that can be so frustrating. It also acts on superficial burns, blackhead-prone areas, and skin marks caused by aging or sun exposure. According to a clinical test carried out by COSMEPAR*, Royer Cosmétique creams provide 76% skin repair.

Snail slime contains collagen

We very often hear about Collagen, which has been particularly popularized by anti-wrinkle creams. Did you know that this protein is naturally produced by your body? It gives tissues mechanical resistance to stretching and is essential to the healing process.

However, with age, or due to other non-natural factors such as smoking or pollution, a collagen deficiency develops. This causes the skin to sag, promoting the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, or even stretch marks. This deficiency also prevents the skin from healing properly. How can you offset the loss of collagen?

Snail slime cream is a natural, gentle solution to counter this phenomenon. Naturally containing collagen, snail slime is very effective against stretch marks and wrinkles. It also helps repair marks such as superficial sun burns or marks left by blemishes. The COSMEPAR* study found that skin is 76% firmer and more elastic thanks to the use of Royer Cosmétique's fresh organic snail slime creams.

Renewed skin suppleness thanks to elastin

Just like collagen, elastin is a protein naturally produced by the body. As its name suggests, it is responsible for the skin's extensibility and elasticity. It therefore plays an essential role in skin suppleness. Our body stops producing this protein at puberty, but it remains present in the body throughout life thanks to its stability. However, with aging, elastin fibers degrade and cause the same type of phenomena as collagen loss: the formation of wrinkles and the appearance of other marks linked to skin aging, such as stretch marks.

To fight skin aging, we recommend opting for a natural treatment that won't irritate your skin. Have you ever tried snail slime cream?

If it is pure and undiluted, as in our organic creams, snail slime helps your body combat skin aging. There's nothing magical about it, since snail slime naturally contains elastin. According to the COSMEPAR clinical study, daily use of Royer Cosmétique snail slime creams allows your skin to regain its suppleness!

Hydrated, radiant skin with the action of Vitamins A and C.

Have you heard of glycolic acid? Beyond its tricky pronunciation, glycolic acid is best known for its anti-aging properties. Specifically, what effect does it have on the skin?

Glycolic acid has several functions:
- It removes dead skin cells and improves skin texture.
- It promotes the production of hyaluronic acid: hydration of the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of skin)
- It disperses melanin: evening out and brightening the complexion
- It builds collagen and elastin: improving skin suppleness and elasticity.

These are more than interesting properties for visibly improving skin quality. Indeed, who doesn't dream of having perfectly hydrated, toned and radiant skin?

Snail slime creams help you meet this challenge, since snail slime naturally contains glycolic acid. Provided it is made with pure, undiluted slime, as at Royer Cosmétique, snail slime cream helps reduce wrinkles and skin imperfections such as dark spots. Not to mention that your skin texture is refined and your complexion more radiant! The COSMEPAR* study supports this: thanks to our creams, your skin will be 76% more toned, 86% smoother. As for your complexion, it will be 71% more even.

Wrinkles and other imperfections smoothed away with Glycolic Acid

Having beautiful skin remains a recurring concern, whether you're a man or a woman. After all, who can claim to have never had a skin issue? The slightest emerging blemish tends to become an obsession and is enough to ruin our day. Beyond the daily fight against small blemishes or other lesions, having beautiful skin also means having healthy skin — which in turn helps prevent certain imperfections from appearing.

To achieve this, you need to nourish your skin. Literally. But how? By giving it the nutrients it needs. Among these nutrients are, more specifically, vitamins A and C. Vitamin A promotes skin pigmentation (by activating melanin), which helps protect your skin and gives you a lovely tanned complexion all year round. It also plays a role in skin hydration. As for vitamin C, the best known of all, it prevents skin aging through its action against free radicals, adds radiance to the complexion, and protects the skin against UV rays by regulating the activity of melanocytes (cells that synthesize melanin). When we talk about vitamins, we often think of dietary supplements. However, it has been proven, particularly for vitamin C, that applying it directly to the skin is far more effective than taking it orally.

Snail slime cream contains this winning combo of vitamins, naturally present in snail slime. To maximize the effects on your skin, we recommend choosing creams made with fresh slime, such as Royer Cosmétique creams. According to the COSMEPAR study, using our creams makes your skin 100% more hydrated and 76% more radiant.

Acts as a protective barrier for the skin

When we talk about aggressors, we are of course referring to all the aggressions the skin faces daily, in particular:
- Pollution: this is the aggressor we hear about most often. The toxins it carries make our skin more sensitive, and visibly harm its beauty (blackheads, dull complexion).
- The sun: a hard-to-break bad habit. We often tend to overexpose ourselves to the sun, without always taking the necessary precautions. Yet your skin struggles to protect itself alone from UV rays, which contribute to premature aging.
- Cold weather: it's not just our body that needs to be covered and protected — our face does too! In cold weather, our skin produces less sebum and therefore has less to protect it against the cold attacking it. This generally then creates feelings of tightness. Our hands often suffer from this too.

The solution for fighting these aggressors is to give your skin the tools it needs to protect itself. What tools exactly? What if we told you: natural antibiotic peptides? Beyond the somewhat technical name, natural antibiotic peptides act as a protective barrier for the skin. A true weapon of massive protection against pollution, UV rays, cold, dust, wind… Naturally found in fresh snail slime, and therefore in Royer Cosmétique face cream, they help your skin regain all its vitality. In fact, according to the COSMEPAR* clinical study, you will regain 81% more vitality by using our organic creams.

Scientific study on snail slime

Study of the properties of snail slime on cell culture. Tests conducted by HCS Pharma

Snails have been widely used in medicine since Antiquity.

Numerous biological properties have been attributed to them, the subject of scientific work and communications on their potential therapeutic value. Royer has unique know-how and over thirty years of expertise in snail farming, which today allows it to produce a high-quality slime, rich in protein, with demonstrated dermatological properties.

An animal-friendly extraction method, unique in the world.

We have developed, in partnership with Ecocert, a mucus-harvesting process that is unique in the world and respectful of animal welfare. The secretion is obtained by stimulating the mucus gland for 30 seconds using thousands of soft brushes, without subjecting the animal to any stress whatsoever. The slime collected in this way is then filtered; an organic preservative is added; it is then used in this form, fresh and undiluted, in the composition of the cosmetics. This process allows for an optimal concentration of slime in the cosmetic products' formulation — an essential factor, since the study shows that the many dermo-cosmetic properties of the slime are only relevant when the slime concentration is high.

Woman with a snail on her hand: snail slime study

An innovative study to provide objective evidence of the pharmacological effects of Royer snail slime.

In a first step, the components of the slime were analyzed, revealing a high concentration of glycolic acid and collagen, as well as the presence of various vitamins, particularly those with strong antioxidant power (vitamins D, E).

To provide scientific data illustrating the pharmacological properties of the slime, a study was conducted on cell cultures. The aim of this study was to examine the antioxidant, anti-lipid-peroxidation, anti-inflammatory, hydrating, and healing properties of the snail slime obtained through the ROYER process.

These effects were studied on primary human keratinocytes in culture, using in vitro tests carried out jointly on the same plate, using a proprietary high-throughput cell phenotypic screening technology developed by the company HCS Pharma, combined with an advanced image analysis technique.
